Ministry and Personnel

MINISTRY AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEE REPORT - 2009

The Ministry and Personnel Committee (M & P) has had a fairly quiet year with only one staff change.  At the end of 2009, Patti Pearson retired as caretaker for Knox United Church and we welcomed Ed Katona as the new caretaker. Ed will also be responsible for some of the maintenance tasks required to keep our building in good working order. To accommodate this shift, there have been a few changes to the Caretaker job description.  Ed will not be responsible for unlocking and locking the church before and after events. The Knox United Church Council is currently looking for volunteers to assist in this task.

This year, the M & P Committee had planned to work with the Property Committee to review floor and wall finishes in the church to ensure that when they are updated, they will be replaced with finishes that are easy to keep clean.  This task was sidelined so that we could focus on the roof repair and the construction of a new lift. Hopefully, we will be able to pursue this task in 2010.

Also planned for 2010, is a review of the job description of the Administrative Assistant.  This will be done in conjunction with the development of the new zone model of cooperative ministry.

Knox United is very lucky to have such wonderful, competent staff.  It really does make things easier.

Members of the M & P Committee are appointed by Council to provide a confidential setting to deal with all staff concerns both from the staff themselves and from members of the congregation.  The M & P Committee is the appropriate body with which a person or group may share concerns regarding the church staff and their work.
