Mission & Service

Outreach Report  June  2011

On May 8 the outreach committee  led the worship service.

We organized a “Hats off to M&S” theme to raise money to support our covenant  to the national church and  a focused project of the M&S fund  in Managua Nicaragua.

Los Quinchos is a school in Nicaragua dedicated to reaching out and teaching school subjects and life skills to the most at risk and poorest children in Nicaragua.  Many of them are street vendors and are sole support for their family.

Members of the congregation wore various types of hats and paid $10 (more or less) to wear their hats.  There were lots of laughs and admiring comments that took place that helped to bring fun and chohesiveness  to our congregation.   Pictures are posted in the basement and can be viewed during coffee hour.

Unfortunately our powerpoint presentation did not work and we were unable to share pictures and slides that would be able to give people a better understanding of the political and economic problems that people and children in this country faces.

A short description of the school and  what it has accomplished was given. However we plan to share the powerpoints  at a different date.

We thank Robin Wright for his assistance with the equipment.

We will pursue the possibility of putting them on our website and printing off pictures for  people to see.

The Hats off to M&S  raised $415(half was given towards the covenant).   Collection plate offerings  memorial donations and coin box collections have totaled $600.

We donated our stipends for leading two church services toward the fund so we have an approximate total of $1060.

More money continues to come in weekly in the coin boxes in the lobby.
We have teamed up with Rainy River Stratton and Emo.

Our goal was $3000.

We have not got a total from Rainy River.  Emo is leading a worship service and hosting a |Nicaraguan meal after so we await these amounts of money.

It has been decided and agreed upon by all involved that donations from RR/ Stratton and Emo will be forwarded our treasurer and she will send one check to the national church.

Each church is issuing individual tax receipts to those who requested it.

A meeting will be held between Peggy Mason, Janet Loney, Janice and I to determine when the money will be sent to the national church and what we will do next.

We would like to keep this as an ongoing mission of our church.
