Rev. Mrs. Barbara Miller - Minister
Rev. Mrs. Barbara Miller has lived in the Rainy River District since 1990 when she was settled here as the minister for Rainy River and Stratton United Churches. She wasn’t here very long when she met and married her life-partner Brent Miller. Together they have three children: Tegan, Bentley and Myan, and live on a farm just north of Stratton where they farm Simmental-Hereford cross cattle, along with a few chickens and some other farm animals. A sixth member of the family is our faithful, friendly and fun-loving shitzu ‘Steener’, who often comes to visit at the church office.
Barb has been with us since August 2008. She has served all of the United Churches in our district in various capacities as their ministry staff. During her years in the area, she has also worked with Family and Children’s Services as a Children’s Mental Health Worker, Confederation College teaching introductory Psychology, Marriage and the Family and Early Childhood Development and Naicatchewenin First Nations as a Family Service Worker. She studied Philosophy at Kings University (with University of Western Ontario) earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1986 and received her Master of Divinity from Emmanuel College in Toronto and was ordained by London Conference in 1990. She has served the larger church on Presbytery Executive as the Chair of Christian Outreach and Social Action; at Conference on the Ministry with Children Committee; as part of the Design Planning Team for Youth at the 33rd General Council in 1990. Currently, Barb is Chair of Presbytery, sitting also on Conference Executive, and serves as a Consultant for the Sexual Abuse Policy Committee as we endeavour to seek justice and end sexual harassment/abuse.
Barb is equally passionate about ministry with children/youth and pastoral care.

Janice has a wide range of responsibilities. When you contact the church on a weekday, she is probably the first person you will encounter. She answers a wide range of questions varying from prospective renters of church facilities to amateur genealogists researching their family history.
Much of her time is spent preparing bulletins for worship services and facilitating communication among members of the Church Council and the many volunteers who help in the church. Public relations, communications, record-keeping and interacting with staff, volunteers, church user groups and the general public are all part of Janice’s work week.
